“I’m Gunna Miss That Gummy Smile…”

But you do look so cute! You’re up to 5 teeth now. Wow, that happened fast! Your top two front teeth are peeking through, along with your bottom left front, and the two left of that.

You like testing out your chompers on fingers, my arm, and during feeding time. Ouch!

The irony of it all? I’ll have to put quarters under your pillow someday for these teeth you are biting me with now. Who’s idea was that?!

Mum’sNumNums- Sweet Carrot Pea Puree

There are a lot of advantages to using frozen produce to make baby food. The produce is often just as fresh and nutritious, and you save yourself some time.

Much to my suprise, Chazz loves peas! I used frozen carrots and frozen organic peas to make this Carrot-Pea Pureé.

I split this batch in half before I blended it. Half was your standard purée, and the other half I left pretty thick for when he has more teeth (that time is soon, there are 4 coming in right now!)

What I Used:
1 12oz bag frozen organic peas
1 16oz bag frozen carrots
6 oz BM (or Formula)
2-3 Ice cube trays

What I Did:
-Add the carrots to boiling water, just until soft, about 6 minutes.
-Add the peas to carrots and simmer until soft, an additional 4 minutes. Drain.

-Purée peas and carrots together in a blender, adding BM to thin if needed. Remember that the purée will thin after freezing, so keep it a little thick.
-Allow to cool, and pour into ice cube trays to freeze. (the blue ice cube tray has the thicker blend in it… if you can tell by the photo)

-Transfer the frozen cubes to dated ziplock bags for easy storage.

Enjoy! I know Chazz will!

One of my best friends is moving today. Back to her hometown in Cali where she moved from way back in high school.

We met on the first day of school. It was my Senior year, her Sophomore, in First period Yearbook. She was new. And had “my” piercings. (She says I gave her a “dirty look,” I don’t recall, but I may have 🙂 So we pretty much avoided each other the first two weeks of class.

Then we got paired up for a Yearbook project. And it turned out we liked the same music. (imagine that…) And became buddies. And pretty much locked ourselves in the AV room, and edited pages for the rest of the year, laughing, and “jammin’ out” to the anthems of our angst-y youth.

Those days layed the foundation for what will be a lifelong friendship. She was my shoulder to cry on when I miscarried. She stood alongside me as I married my (other) best friend. She was there when Chazz was born. (Not there, mind you, because I kicked everyone out. But outside the delivery room taking pictures of my nervous dad!) She is Chazz’s Godmom.

She gets me. I don’t have to say what I’m thinking, she knows. I don’t even have to say what I’m looking for, she’s already handing it to me. We often joke that she is the other half of my brain. (These days, she might even be all of it…) She brings me coffee. She picks me out clothes when we shop. She kidnaps me when I need a break.

And she just gets me. (did I mention that?)

I’m having a hard time keeping it together today. I’ll admit there have been a few tears… And I can’t come up with any profound words to explain what I’m feeling. I’m sad that she’s leaving. But I’m excited for her new adventure.

But I’m going to be a little empty. And probably a little disoriented. As half of my heart, and my brain, moves to the ocean…

::sigh:: I love you Sarah. And someday, I’ll wave to you from my beach house, right next to yours!

I Found Him On The Ceiling Eating Goldfish

I mentioned Chazz was more mobile…

Last month, he was barely scooting around. As of late, he’s trying his hardest to climb the walls. He can crawl up and over anything.

I have to put him in his packnplay in the kitchen while I cook breakfast. For fear I might find him on the ceiling…

And this boy isn’t much interested in crawling. He wants to walk. He has perfected pulling up on everything. Especially in the packnplay. But I don’t think he wants to just stand there, he’s plotting how to get out! You can tell he just wants to be cruising from couch to couch, and he’s pretty dang close.

The first few days were scary. (And still are!) He pulls up, and until just yesterday, had no idea how to get down again. So he’d whimper, and I’d help him back down on his little bum, only to watch him pull back up to stand. Aaand Repeat.

Stand. Whimper. Sit. Repeat. : )

He finally figured out that he can let one arm go and dangle to sit. But he only remembers half the time. So thank goodness he still needs his Mommy to come rescue him!

But all you really need to know is

A lot of them.

And awesome Etsy shops, scavenger hunts for prizes, and blogs galore! Did I mention prizes?!

My giveaway theme is “Oh! Baby” A collection of prizes for both mom and baby. I have some awesome Etsy stores sponsoring this HUGE giveaway, so we are going to be getting to know each of them over these next few weeks.

Here is a sneak peek into their shops, along with a few of my favorite finds!

Mama Hoot Designs has a little bit of baby everything. This bag would be perfect to pack all those baby extras along in the car.

Shes That Girl makes a variety of vegan soaps shaped like cupcakes or even seascapes. I’ll take one in my bathroom!

With all of the cute pacifier clips at TMD Design, you couldn’t possibly pick just one. Mr. Chazz would look pretty studly with this one though!

I would cherish any one of the necklaces from Josiah’s Nest. (hint hint Hubby!) Beautiful and unique.

Come home to our nursery? Please?? I heart this guy from LucyBlaire

These ain’t your grandma’s handmade shoes! SweetHearts and Soles has adorable hand-crocheted shoes in a bunch of different styles. Chazz could totally rock these!

Okay, go drool over these shops, heart them, support them, and check back for Blogmania in September to see what you can win.

*If you have a shop or service you would like promoted for this event, feel free to email me foreverandafterblog@yahoo.com for more info!*•

A Big Bad 8 Month Old

You have almost been an “outside baby” as long as you were an “inside baby.” And you’re crawling closer and closer to One. This last month has been a busy one for you, Mr. Chazz. Not only are you growing in leaps and bounds, but you’re also turning into such a kid. A little-big kid.

You are crawling everywhere {fast!} and pull up on anything you can to stand. That includes couches, tables, and any stray limbs. And what a grip! I’m glad to see that clawing your way up my legs is a fun new exciting way to stand.

All of these new mobile abilities have presented quite a few new problems… Babyproofing has become a twice-a-day affair. Getting you to sit still and eat has become…. very hard. And these days, you are SO over your carseat.

Being buckled in for longer than 10 minutes must really be cramping your style. Any longer than that, and you become a hot mess, inconsolable from the front seat. The 30 minute drive to pick up your “Dada” from work has become, well, loud.

{It is so hard to drive while he is flailing around bawling behind me, BTW. It’s heartwrenching! Do I pull over and prolong the tears in an attempt to make him happy, or just get where we’re going as fast and sane as I can?? It’s a rock and a hard place, my friends…}

Also, you have come to appreciate what I call The View.

The View.

From Mom’s arms.

Nothing must look as good from anywhere else, because this is where you insist on seeing it all!
