11 Months Old!

Tick tock, huh?! We’re almost through this much-cherished First Year. Just 30 short days from now, we will have a one year old on our hands.

And I don’t wanna talk about it.

If this is any indication of how fast time flies after having children, then we better not blink or he’ll be 20!

Chazz,
Can’t we just cuddle your little newborn-ness one more time? Or be engulfed with your baby smell like when you were little-little? (that smell is quickly fading.) I look back on old photos (I’m looking back?? on OLD photos? already??) and seeing your teeny peanut body, and wondering when you got so big. Or how “long” your hair was then.

I look back on old blog posts about first colds and milestones I never thought would come, and wonder where the time has gone. Now you are working on a lot of “seconds” and pushing through milestones like a crazy man. Stop it!! You’re making me nervous.

With One quickly approaching, I keep thinking about the year ahead. You’ll be on your way to Two. Doing big boy things. Do I have to stop calling you my baby? Because I’m almost certain you will always be that 7 pound squirmy tank of a baby to me.

And I might still sneek in to peek at you sleeping, you little angel. I find myself tip-toeing in just as much as ever. To watch your little chest rise and fall with each breath. To admire your cute button nose in the moonlight. To giggle about how you are laying, stretched out over an entire queen bed. (how do you do that, seriously.) I sneek back out bursting with joyful pride, and feeling a little empty at the same time. Proud that you don’t need me right there anymore to sleep. But empty that you don’t NEED me right there.

What a strange, conflicted feeling…

Just stay little forever?
Mom

9 Months Old

Since Chazz will be 10 MONTHS OLD in a couple days, I figure I should post this, huh?
-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-

Well Chazz-man,
Here we are, at nine months old. You have been an “outside baby” just as long as you were inside the belly. And I know I will say this again and again, but this really is the best month yet. You are becoming so independent and personable. We’re so proud of the little man you are turning into. My, how your Daddy beams when someone mentions how handsome/sweet/charming you are.

This month has been a big change for all of us. You have grown a ton, popped 6 teeth through, and say Mama and Dada with intent. With Mommy back at work part time, our days are a little different, but you’ve been a champ through it all. You are quite the expert crawler, moving at lightning speeds across the room. You also love to pull up on any and everything to stand. You’re becoming more daring about standing up, often only holding on with one hand. Twice now, you have let go to try out standing on your own. A brave little guy!

You are well on your way to being a toddler. To being a ONE year old! (seriously, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN??) And yes, the party planning is in full swing already. But for now, we are just taking it all in, and enjoying these last few months of babyhood.

And Baby Boy… just stay the charming and determined little bugger you are, and nothing will be impossible.

Love you,
Mom

But you do look so cute! You’re up to 5 teeth now. Wow, that happened fast! Your top two front teeth are peeking through, along with your bottom left front, and the two left of that.

You like testing out your chompers on fingers, my arm, and during feeding time. Ouch!

The irony of it all? I’ll have to put quarters under your pillow someday for these teeth you are biting me with now. Who’s idea was that?!

A Big Bad 8 Month Old

Chazz,

You have almost been an “outside baby” as long as you were an “inside baby.” And you’re crawling closer and closer to One. This last month has been a busy one for you, Mr. Chazz. Not only are you growing in leaps and bounds, but you’re also turning into such a kid. A little-big kid.

You are crawling everywhere {fast!} and pull up on anything you can to stand. That includes couches, tables, and any stray limbs. And what a grip! I’m glad to see that clawing your way up my legs is a fun new exciting way to stand.

All of these new mobile abilities have presented quite a few new problems… Babyproofing has become a twice-a-day affair. Getting you to sit still and eat has become…. very hard. And these days, you are SO over your carseat.

Being buckled in for longer than 10 minutes must really be cramping your style. Any longer than that, and you become a hot mess, inconsolable from the front seat. The 30 minute drive to pick up your “Dada” from work has become, well, loud.

{It is so hard to drive while he is flailing around bawling behind me, BTW. It’s heartwrenching! Do I pull over and prolong the tears in an attempt to make him happy, or just get where we’re going as fast and sane as I can?? It’s a rock and a hard place, my friends…}

Also, you have come to appreciate what I call The View.

The View.

From Mom’s arms.

Nothing must look as good from anywhere else, because this is where you insist on seeing it all!
My little Velcro Baby ❤

I'll just keep alternating between lugging you around and chasing you around, and you just keep being cute, mmkay? Deal.

All my love,
Momma

ps- STOP GROWING UP!

Guess Who’s 7 Months Old

**Oh Pfft. I can’t upload any pictures at the moment, but I will be sure to update this post tommorow. Until then, check out the Flickr slideshow I put together for Chazz-Man!**
***************************************

Already?!

Chazz,
You have accomplished so much this month! How do you get so smart, so fast?

You have whole conversations with us, babbling “dadada’s” “mhmm’s” and the occasional “mama!” And Mommy and Daddy are pretty convinced that we heard a “Hi!” along with your little hand waving. You have tons of new sounds and tones. You growl and screech, but my favorite by far is your whimper. You sometimes lay your head on my shoulder and do it, and I melt!

You are thisclose to crawling. You push up, lunge forward, creep backwards, and scoot sideways, but so far, no official crawling. You even worm your way across the living room to get to your toy bucket. You can get pretty far on those hardwood floors too, and always peek around the corner of the couch at us!

You are grabbing at (and attatching to) everthing! The changing table, the gate, my plate. You grab stuff off of counters and walls as I carry you by. If it’s grab-able, consider it grabbed. And your grip is rediculously strong, Little Man! You wrap your tiny little fingers around something, and there is little hope of getting it back. And boy, are you mad if we do!

You are growing so fast. And I can’t stand to watch, but I can’t look away. Just keep growing into the sweet little man that you are, and I might be able to get over it!

All my love,
Mom

Happy 1/2 Birthday Chazz!

Wow. My Little Man is 6 months already! The big .5! And my, how you have grown:

Chazz,
Six months ago, I was holding a beautiful stranger. Your sweet dark eyes looked only to me. Now I’m lucky if you’ll hold still long enough to see your cute face! And you are no longer a stranger. You have a budding little personality, all your own! You are talkative and sweet. Keen and adventurous. There’s no fooling you! You are a momma’s boy through and through and love to snuggle. You often bury your face in my chest and giggle, which is the cutest thing ever!

But you always have time to be one of the guys and sit in your Bumbo seat watching Daddy intently. You save your biggest smiles for your him. I love the heart to heart conversations you have with him. Your little face has so much emotion and expression! And sometimes, he’s the only one who can get you to nap!

Everwhere we go, someone mentions how happy, sweet, or handsome you are. And I beam with pride! You have your Daddy’s big heart, and Mommy’s looks. My tan sweetheart with those dark curls.

You did wonderful at your appointment. On the way, you surprised me with a new sound. “Dadadada” all the way there! You smiled at Dr. Gill and showed off all of your skills for the nurse. You only cried for 4-5 seconds after your shots, but I squeeked Mr. Elephant and all was right and good in the world! You are getting smarter by the day! And oh-so-tough. You roll and spin and inch to get around. You push your tummy up off of the ground, sometimes even to your toes like a push up! You seem to learn something new everyday to surprise us with. You’re growing up too fast for mom! Cut it out, already!

Happy 1/2 Birthday, Monkey-Man!

All my love,
Mom

On My First Mother’s Day

Chazz,
Thank you for making me a mommy! Six months ago, you were due, and I was impatiently waiting for you to come. I never understood the strength of a mother’s love until I had you. You are just as precious at 4 am, bawling, as you are when you’re peacefully sleeping on my chest. I’ve learned a lot about love from you. You’ve given me many gifts. Unconditional love, never-ending strength, selflessness, insights I never had before there was a you. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect baby boy!
Love, Mom

Mommy,
Aka Madrè, Merè, Momma
I love you to pieces!
Thank you for being such an awesome mom, an example of the mother I was to become! There were times I thought I was sure I had just dug my own grave. But no matter what trouble I was in, you were there to show me the way, and love me unconditionally. Thanks for being the best teacher, cheerleader, and friend a daughter could ask for.
Love, Chelcie Rae

Roman,
Being such a wonderful dad is what inspires me to be a wonderful mom. Thanks for the simple things, like changing diapers, and the pretty dang big ones, like working your hardest for our family. Thanks for always supporting me in my mommy decisions and adventures (I know you think all this “organic-shmamic” is slightly crazy). And for all of the times you tell me that I’m an amazing mom. It might not seem like much, but it is really nice to hear, and keeps me goin!
Forever and After, Baby.
