Meet The FAB Family

A Fairytale, Unfolding:

Once Apon A Time, There Was A Mama:

I’m Chelcie, the young, baby-wearing, bed sharing, BFing, kinda-green mama behing this blog. And as of now my world is being rocked by toddlerhood. I am “Mama” to Chazz, 1, and lucky enough to be Roman’s Wife, Forever.
As for me, I love my job as mom. Most days are 36 hours of crazy crammed into 24. But I drink a lot of coffee so it works out fine. I’m back at work after a 9 month maternity leave, and boy does it pull on the ol’ heartstrings. When I’m not at work, I love to snuggle me some Chazz. And take silly pictures together. Or dance and sing with him around the living room. I also make all of Chazz’s food (you know, in my spare time.) Check out my collection of baby and toddler recipes, Mum’s Num Nums. Right meow, I just want to blog more, swear less, and balance work and domestic disaster.

And A Daddy:

Roman and I have been together since 17 and will be together at 70. He’s my rockstar, a hard worker, and such a fun dad. Not to mention, handsome, with the most amazing blue-green eyes. After recently being laid off, he is staying at home with Chazz AND going back to school. Chazz is definitly Dad’s Little Dude. They love to listen to rock music together every morning (Chazz even headbangs) and can often be found at the park together, going on stroller walks or just enjoying the fresh Montana air.

Who Have A Little Prince Charming:
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
And Chazz? Well he is the prince charming in our little fairytale. Chazz Dallen was finally born November 14, ’09. Five days late and TWO inductions later. We should have known. He is stubborn and determined to give us a run for our money. He is all boy, a noise with dirt on it. Determined to climb up and over everything. I just adore his big brown eyes and surfer curls.

Chazz was diagnosed with a vision disability at six months old called Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, or ONH. This means his optic nerves are underdeveloped and not sending a full picture to his brain to process. Chazz’s eyesight is still a puzzle. We won’t know for sure until he is older, but they think Chazz is mostly blind in his left eye and about 110/20 in his right. Developmentally, Chazz is right on, and doesn’t seem to have any of the brain defects associated with ONH. But his Pituitary Gland is small because of ONH, in turn producing low levels of growth hormones. So he is kind of a little peanut, weighing 18 lbs at one year old (2nd percentile.)

Although the diagnosis is hard, it is so nice to have a starting point. We are trying to stay positive and learning as much as we can.

If you would like to learn more about Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, this is a wonderful link to The Magic Foundation.

And that? Is our little Forever & After Family!

“We may not have it all together, but together, we have it all.”

P.S. Chazz and I would love for you to say hello!
